MATCH REPORTS

Eastern Junior Alliance - South Central U14
Grays Athletic F.C. 0 v 1 Leyton F.C..
Sunday 20th January 2008

Another frustrating game where the opposition set their stall out to close down our game whilst trying to catch us on the counter attack. Like the Ilford game we had the lions share of the match with plenty of chances being ground out from the midfield battle.
However, it was not until the 60th minute that the breakthrough came for Leyton when Randy Toto flicked on James Jaconelli's long throw into the box for JACK COOK to react first by shooting the ball past the helpless keeper to make it 0-1.
After that Grays came out fighting and played a much more attacking formation. However, the boys from Leyton were rarely under any form of pressure throughout this game and simply continued to play out the remainder of the match as they had played all day.

Well done Leyton!!!!!!

Not pretty, but a very good win against a side who gave us one of our most difficult challenges last year.

Eastern Junior Alliance - South Central U14
Leyton F.C. 0 v 0 Ilford F.C.
Sunday 6th January 2008

A good game for the neutral but very frustrating if connected with Leyton.

To say that this game was one sided would be an understatement, but Ilford came with a game plan to contain and frustrate us and to some extent this worked. However, there is no doubt in my mind that the two points we dropped were simply due to a lack of composure in front of goal and a very good performance from Jack Stone in goal for Ilford. To break down the game, we must have had 70% of the play, with 34 shots, 7 corners and 5 free kicks, against Ilford's 10 shots, 1 corner and 4 free kicks. We played some really good football at times, but at other times we let ourselves down with kick and rush panic football. Hopefully our lack of goals is down to this being our first game since the 3rd December and a lack of training over the Christmas period. Either way we will certainly have to work harder on our shooting, as we could have easily been in to double figures with at least 5 of our opportunities being virtual one on ones with the keeper.

London F.A. Cup Third Round
Leyton F.C. 8 v 1 Loass F.C.
Sunday 11th November 2007

In form Leyton continued there impressive season with a massive 8-1 win against Leyton Orients LOASS F.C. in the Third Round of the London F.A. Cup. Leyton dominated the proceedings from start to finish and bagged a hat full of goals from a range of different players. STEPHAN BRYAN (2) PHILIP ROBERTS (2) JAMES JACONELLI, RANDY TOTO, JACK COOK and VEDAT EZEL. Goal Keepers Kevin Pambani and Reece Samuels were excellent when called upon, but had little to do for the most part. Liam Foster, Dominik Carter, Ryan Melaugh and George Cornhill were fantastic in defence and rarely allowed LOASS in to their defending third. However the central midfield trio of Josh Russell, Jack Cook and James Jaconelli had the most work to do and did extremely well to control the game from start to finish. Philip Roberts, Billy English and Ife Ogunbayo kept LOASS busy down the flanks, whilst strikers Randy Toto, Stephen Bryan, Aron Wickham and Vedat Ezel kept the LOASS back line firmly in check throughout. This fine performance extended Leyton winning streak to eight straight wins in all competitions and leaves them going in to the quarter finals on the 2nd December as the only team left in the competition from East London and Essex.

Manager Derwent was delighted with the performance, but said that their great start to the season had attracted the interests of a number of professional clubs and he now fears that he could lose up to 6 or 7 players to academy trials before the next round and will be holding a number of open trials over the coming weeks. Anyone who is interested in gaining a trial should contact Derwent directly on 020 8500 0601.

Eastern Junior Alliance - South Central U14
Leyton F.C. 4 v 1 Sawbridgeworth F.C.
Sunday 4th November 2007

This was a good game, played in the right spirit by two sides looking to play football in the right way, whilst competing well with each other.
However, Leyton are very much in form at the moment and took control of the game early with a 2-0 goal lead through PHILIP ROBERTS.
Sawbridgeworth managed to snatch a goal back shortly before half time with a wonder strike from some distance outside of the area to make it 2-1 at the break.
When the second half opened Leyton immediately regained full control scoring an early goal through LIAM FOSTER. Liam finished from close range off the keeper to make it 3-1, following an excellent save by the keeper from his initial header .
STEPHEN BRYAN then rounded the day off with a well take strike past the advancing keeper to make the final score 4-1 and maintain Leyton's current superb record of 7 wins from 7 games.

Eastern Junior Alliance - South Central U14
Leyton F.C. 6 v Chelmsford CityF.C.
Sunday 13th October 2007

Leyton FC continued their excellent start to this seasons U14 Eastern Junior Alliance League campaign, with an emphatic 6-1 win over Chelmsford City FC.
Leyton were always the dominant side in this encounter, but Chelmsford came to do battle, and battle they did.
This was not an easy win for Leyton and it took an excellent cross from Randy Toto for Leyton to open the scoring as Philip Roberts headed home to make it 1-0.
Shortly after, confusion in the Leyton defense enabled Chelmsford to snatch a goal back from close range and as the half came to a close, Kevin Pambani pulled off an outstanding one handed save to ensure the half time score remained at 1-1.

When the second half opened Chelmsford tried hard to take the game to Leyton and hit the post early on. For the next 10 or so minutes the game was fairly even until James Jaconelli latched on to a Billy English through ball to round the keeper and slot the ball home to make it 2-1.
Within minutes James Jaconelli turned provider with and excellent reverse cross, which Randy Toto did extremely well to finish first time with the outside of his right boot to make it 3-1.
Arron Wickham then picked out Randy Toto again and as he received the ball on the edge of the six yard box, he jinked and turned to shoot past the Chelmsford keeper making it 4-1.
Then Randy Toto completed his hat trick by neatly slotting past the advancing keeper as Liam Foster fed the ball in to his run to make it 5-1.
Then James Jaconelli rounded off the day with an outstanding individual goal after receiving the ball from Jack Cook on the half way line, he flicked the ball over the head of the last defender, out ran him to the edge of the 18 yard box before chipping the ball up over the advancing Chelmsford keeper and in to the back of the net, making the final score 6-1.
However, the score line does not reflect the game. Chelmsford gave a very good account of themselves and had it not been for some outstanding defending from Liam Foster, Dominik Carter and Ryan Melaugh, plus the outstanding goal keeping of Kevin Pambani, the score might well have been different.

LONDON FA U14 CUP SECOND ROUND
LEYTON F.C. 19 V 0 WALTHAM FOREST UTD F.C.
Sunday30th September 2007

Waltham Forrest United FC proved to be no mach for in form Leyton, who dominated the proceeding from start to finish. In fact, Leyton enjoyed so much early possession that it was only ever going to be a matter of time before the goals started to come and when they did, some of them were of the highest order.
James Jaconelli scored 6 and assisted 1, Arron Wickham scored 4 and assisted 3, Josh Russell scored 2 and assisted 2, Philip Roberts scored 2 and assisted 2, Randy Toto scored 1 and assisted 4, Stephen Bryan scored 1 and assisted 2, Ryan Melaugh scored 1 and assisted 2, Ashley Augustin scored 1, Ife Ogunbayo scored 1 and assisted 2 and Jack Cook assisted 1.
Kevin Pambani had little to do in goal, and although Billy English, Liam Foster, Jack Cook and Dominic Carter did not score, but they were all fully involved in the build up play to over half the goals scored.
Leyton produced what can only be described as an outstanding all round team performance to continue their run of form, 4 wins in 4 games, and the most pleasing thing of all is that when they were winning 10-0, they retained their shape by holding their positions and remaining composed and in control at all times.

Eastern Junior Alliance - South Central U14
Leyton F.C. 1-0 Grays Athletic F.C.
Sunday 23rd September 2007

Grays came on strong for the first 5-10 minutes, but once Leyton had withered the initial storm, they began to control the game. Leyton never had it all their own way as Grays put up a remarkable fight to take the game into the half time break at 0-0.
When the second half opened Leyton were still buoyant and again took the game to Grays, however Grays worked very hard and did well to counter on the break on a number of occasions.
But with 10 minutes remaining a clever flick from James Jaconelli allowed Randy Toto the space and time to pick out the run of Arron Wickham , who did not disappoint by neatly slipping the ball past the advancing keeper to make it 1-0.
Grays worked hard to try and salvage a point, but Leyton remained composed and in control to take all three points.
That win makes it 9 points from 3 games and takes Leyton to the top of the Eastern Junior Alliance League.
Leyton are back in action next Sunday 30 September when they face Waltham Forest United in the London FA Cup. Ko 1500

Eastern Junior Alliance - South Central U14
Maldon Town F.C. 2 v 3 Leyton F.C.
Sunday 16th September 2007

Leyton FC’s newly formed U14 Eastern Junior Alliance squad has got off to a flying start with back to back wins over Ilford FC at home and Maldon Town FC away, giving the boys maximum points from their first two games
Goals from Dominik Carter, Ryan Melaugh, Randy Toto and James Jaconelli all helped to seal the two victories in what is generally regarded as the highest standard of competitive league football at this age.
Leyton dominated both games with some outstanding individual performances from a number of talented players. Stephen Bryan was always a threat up front and even though he did not score, he was involved in much of the play and linked up well with Randy Toto who was a constant threat.
The midfield of Billly English, Philip Roberts, Jack Cook, James Jaconelli, Ife Ogunbayo, Josh Russell and Ashley Augustin, had complete control of both games and produced many opportunities for their team mates.
Leyton defended well a team, but a special mention has to go to Liam Foster, Domenic Carter, Ryan Melaugh and Joe Obersteller who were all outstanding when called upon, as were both goalkeepers, Kevin Pambani and Reece Samuels. In fact, both had to pull off one or two crucial saves to keep Leyton in each game during brief periods of pressure.
Manager Derwent is delighted with the start that his team has made and has put some of the success down to a pre-season trip to Malta, where the boys played friendly matches against local academy sides and the Maltese National Team in the National centenary Stadium.
The boys lost 6-1 to Malta and 4-2 to Hibernians; however, once the boys got used to the 35 degree touchline temperatures, they managed to beat Hibernians 3-2 in a return match.
All in the entire trip was a fantastic occasion for all of the boys and when you consider that the Maltese National Team recently drew matches 2-2 with Italy and 1-1 with France, you have to say that the boys did extremely well.
Leyton FC U14’s are back in action this coming Sunday 23 September 2007 versus Grays Athletic FC at the Leyton Stadium in Lea Bridge Road. Full details of this fixture can be found on the club web site, www.leytonfc.co.uk

Eastern Junior Alliance - South Central U14
Leyton F.C. 2-1 Ilford F.C.
Sunday 9th September 2007

Leyton U14’s got off to a good start in what was their very first match at the Leyton Stadium.
As the match opened Ilford seemed to want to take immediate control, but Leyton remained composed and soon began to pass the ball well, creating a number of opportunities.
The match was well competed by both teams, however, the boys from Leyton had the lions share of possession with Jaconelli, Toto,, Bryan, English, Augustin and Cook, all having good opportunities to put the home side ahead. In fact, had the finishing been better, and had the Ilford keeper not had such a good game, Leyton could well have gone in to the half time break 2 or 3 goals in front.
However, the breakthrough eventually came on 30m after a sustained period of pressure produced a corner kick, and as the ball dropped in to the box, Carter was first to react and flick the ball in to the back of the net passed the advancing keeper and defender, to send the home side in to the break with a 1-0 advantage.
Both teams made changes to their second half line up, but it was Ilford who started strongest and within 5 minutes had forced a corner which they too managed to convert to level the score at 1-1. But Leyton soon resumed control of the match and again began to work the Ilford keeper.
Leyton were then hit with a couple of injuries and had to make further changes. However, both replacement players did extremely well to catch the pace of the game early were both fully involved and played a lage role in the remainder of the game.
With 10m remaining Leyton were still applying pressure, but still finding it hard to break down Ilford‘s solid defence keeper. Then out of the blue, Melaugh let fly with a speculative lob shot from almost the half way line and as the keeper looked to have save it, the ball spun into the roof of the net to give Leyton a 2-1 advantage.
Ilford tried hard to recover from this, but could not find a way through Leyton’s midfield and defence and to make matters even more difficult for them, as Leyton regained possession, they attacked in numbers forcing Ilford to get back and defend.
As the final whistle blew, the boys from Leyton were jubilant to have achieved a winning start to this very competitive campaign and against a good Ilford side.
Manager, Derwent Jaconelli, was thrilled by the performance and overall composure of his team, who showed great ability and maturity in their approach.
